Interpersonal Skills
The following courses are in a suggested sequence. Each course builds on the principles of the previous course.
1. Working Together as a Team Personality differences can be a challenge. By knowing about the 4 basic types of temperament styles, you to better understand yourself and others in order to build healthy, positive working relationships. This is accomplished by knowing how to recognize communication patterns, motivators, strengths and weakness of different temperament style and then to develop flexible skills to complement each other.
2. Getting the Message Across Effective communication is the foundation for everything we do. The first important skill in communicating with others is to develop effective listening skills. Second, it is not just what we say with our words, it is how we say it. Therefore we must be able to read non-verbal behaviors as well as be aware of our own. Third, is to be able to word things effectively by choosing proper words and implementing assertiveness scripts. It is the effective use of these type of communication skills that will build trust, cohesiveness and increase productivity in the work place.
4. Coping With Difficult People Stress can trigger emotional responses from others that are often difficult to deal with. However, there are some specific strategies and communication skills we can use in order to deal with different types of negative behavior. Instead of escalating conflict between people due to behavioral style differences, we can defuse the situation and create a more cooperative climate.
5. Conflict Resolution Conflict does not have to be negative! Develop a more positive and cooperative climate by knowing how to move from conflict situations to problem-solving. Assertive behavior and collaboration skills are applied to a variety of sources of conflicts through role-plays and case studies.
6. Negotiation Skills Negotiations are not just won by having knowledge of your product, but by effectively using good interpersonal techniques! Be able to apply a variety of skills to reach the best negotiated deal and still keep a healthy, long lasting relationship with those we deal with whether it is our customer, coworker, family member, or others.
7. Appreciating Diversity This is an awareness class of the current issues of diversity in the workplace, the pervasiveness of stereotyping, its negative effect on productivity, and positive ideas on how to manage diversity in the workplace.
8. Creating Synergy The team concept has taken over the workplace. Whether you are on a special task team or just want to create more cohesiveness in a work group, this course can create the synergy you need to become more effective and productive. Team skills are essential for the development of a high-performing, productive organization in today's marketplace. The following skills are emphasized: clarifying team roles and procedures, conducting effective team meetings, making effective team decisions, resolving conflict and building trust within a team. This program can also include outside activities such as rope, climbing and paintball. A needs assessment may be required for an intact workgroup that takes this course. back to top

And we are challenged to meet the expectations of clients as their business needs become increasingly complex. In order to increase readiness and effectiveness as professionals in these changing times, there are specific skill sets and core competencies for managers, supervisors, and leaders that are critical for success. Gain a wide range of tools and techniques that can be immediately used in the workplace that help develop productive teams and workgroups.
